Denver's Department of Transportation and Infrastructure has announced that the Speer Boulevard tunnel, a key artery in the city's transportation system, will experience a brief interruption in its eastbound flow. According to the City and County of Denver Government's latest bulletin, the tunnel stretching from Bannock Street to Grant Street will close for a routine safety inspection. This began at 11:00 p.m. yesterday and is expected to be completed and reopened by 9:00 a.m. today.
The temporary disruption will mainly affect those traveling eastbound. They will be redirected away from Speer Boulevard to N. Broadway, then onto 6th Avenue, which will allow them to cut back south to Speer. Those venturing west on Speer, meanwhile, will find their route unaffected by the closures.
DOTI urges drivers to factor in additional travel time to accommodate this detour and expresses gratitude for the public's patience during this necessary inspection.
