
Detroit police are searching for two young men linked to a shooting during the city’s annual Ford Fireworks event. The suspects have been identified as Alphonso Cooper Jr., 19, and Markalowe Keith Steen Jr., 18. Police say both were involved in helping escape the scene after the incident, as per The Detroit News.
A shooting near the Coleman A. Young Municipal Center injured a 17-year-old boy in the leg and a 22-year-old woman in the hand. Police say the incident started over a $200 debt. The suspect, Cooper, is believed to be hiding in a hotel with help from others. Police are asking the public for tips and warning against helping the suspects. “I do not want them to have an enjoyable, stress-free weekend,” said Chief Bettison. “I want them to know that we are out there.” He added, “Trust me, I will be contacting the U.S. attorney and I will use every aspect of law enforcement to hold you accountable as well for aiding and abetting and every charge that I can possibly bring,” according to The Detroit News.

Police have released images of the suspects and the clothes they were last seen wearing. Assistant Chief Bettison said, "If you help him avoid apprehension and help him leave the state of Michigan or anything like that, trust me, I will be contacting the U.S. attorney and I will use every aspect of law enforcement to hold you accountable as well for aiding and abetting and every charge that I can possibly bring," as reported by WXYZ.
