An apartment fire in downtown Puyallup late yesterday night led to multiple injuries and displacements. According to Central Pierce Fire & Rescue (CPFR), the fire began around 10:30 p.m. on 5th Street Southeast. Eleven people were displaced, and one person was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, KIRO 7 reported.

CPFR escalated the response to a second alarm after flames were seen coming through the roof of two central units, according to FOX 13 Seattle. Firefighters attacked the fire from both inside and outside the building, and it was fully extinguished by 12:27 a.m.

A total of 20 units responded to the scene: 11 for fire suppression, 4 for EMS, and 5 command or support units. All residents were safely evacuated and are receiving assistance from the Red Cross.

Seven apartments and a garage port were damaged. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by CPFR deputy fire marshals, as per The News Tribune.
