The Midwest Medical Examiner's Office has identified Keith Jrome Taylor, a 56-year-old man from Duluth, as the individual found deceased at the St. Louis County Jail on an early Wednesday morning. According to the preliminary report by the Minnesota Department of Public Safety’s Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA), Taylor was discovered unconscious and unresponsive during a routine cell check by detention deputies at about 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
Efforts to quickly provide life-saving care included removing Taylor from his cell and initiating resuscitation attempts. Unfortunately, these attempts were not successful, and Taylor was pronounced dead following the arrival of emergency medical personnel. While the BCA's initial findings did not reveal any obvious signs of trauma, the investigation into the exact cause of Taylor's death is still pending.
The mystery of Keith Jrome Taylor’s untimely death in custody has called into action the investigative arm of the region’s legal machinery, with the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office stepping back to allow the BCA to conduct an unbiased probe into the matter.
To maintain transparency, the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office requested the BCA to be the lead organization in this investigation. As of now, no additional details have been made available to the public.
