
In the early morning hours of June 15th, Duluth residents were startled by a violent incident in their community. The Duluth Police Department reported that officers were dispatched to the 100 block of East 3rd Street around 1:30am following a shooting. A male victim with multiple gunshot wounds was discovered at the scene. Despite immediate medical assistance by officers and rapid transport to a local hospital, he succumbed to his injuries. A second male, targeted in the shooting, escaped unharmed.
Law enforcement moved quickly to trace the suspects, leading to the detention of two individuals associated with the crime. Antonio Duryea Hendon, 35, and Amber Michele Rose Walker, 41, were apprehended with cooperation from the Cloquet Police Department and the Carlton County Sheriff's Office. According to a report by Duluth Police, Hendon faces preliminary charges of second-degree murder and first-degree assault, while Walker could potentially be charged with aiding and abetting second-degree murder. Both suspects have been lodged at the St Louis County Jail.
Investigations are ongoing, and Duluth Police believe that the individuals involved in the incident were acquainted with each other. The authorities are also probing a prior incident that may have contributed to amplifying the events leading to the homicide. The names of the victims are currently withheld, pending notification of their families and further investigation.
