Dyersburg Police Department (DPD) is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of 47-year-old Jennifer Terry, whose body was discovered in a local motel room last Saturday afternoon. The case came to light after DPD officers, notified by local emergency medical service workers, arrived at the scene and found Terry deceased, as disclosed by Action News 5.
The discovery of Terry's body prompted detectives to commence an investigation into the death, which remains open as the inquiry continues, although details regarding a cause of death were not immediately made available by authorities, reports FOX13 Memphis; following a preliminary probe and after discussions with District Attorney Danny Goodman and the involvement of Dyer County Medical Examiner Dr. Monique Casey-Bolden, an autopsy was ordered to determine the specifics of Terry's demise.
In line with standard procedure for unexpected deaths, DPD did not provide an immediate cause of death, with further information pending the results of the forensic examination, as detailed in their communication with local authorities and outlined by WBBJ-TV. The investigation continues as officers look to piece together the events leading up to Terry's death.
Police have not released additional details or indicated whether they suspect foul play at the motel; however, Dyersburg authorities are urging anyone with information that might assist the investigation to come forward in pursuit of clarity and closure for all involved, especially the family and friends of Jennifer Terry.
