An early morning fire significantly damaged a McKeesport restaurant as firefighters were dispatched to Cal's Cantina around 3:30 a.m. this morning. WTAE reported that the fire was controlled relatively quickly after firefighters arrived at the 600 block of Eden Park Blvd.
Despite the swift response to extinguish the blaze, the severity of the damage has raised concerns about the establishment's future, with photos shared by McKeesport Firefighters IAFF Local 10 on social media showing the destruction inside the restaurant. The fire marshal indicated to Channel 11 that he believes the building could be a total loss, suggesting a long road ahead for potential recovery.
Images that circulated following the incident highlighted damaging effects around the roofline, with evidence of black smoke having poured out from the windows and insulation that had been pulled down around the bar area. Fortunately, no individuals were reported inside Cal's Cantina when the blaze initiated. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, with officials working to uncover what may have sparked the incident.
