Three high school seniors in the El Paso Independent School District have just been named as recipients of the Burger King Foundation scholarships, as reported by EPISD.org. Ivan Ramirez of El Paso High School, Sophia Keiser, and Elsa Sarinana, both of Franklin High School, were celebrated at El Paso Community College on a recent Tuesday, commended for their academic excellence and leadership.
Each student received a $1,000 award, part of a wider regional distribution that extended the opportunity to 20 deserving scholars. The ceremony, attended by Burger King representatives, notable educators, and proud family members, acknowledged these students who stood out among their peers. They were part of an enduring legacy of the Burger King Scholars Program, having awarded more than $64 million in scholarships to over 54,000 students across North America, as celebrated with burgers flipping in the background by hard-working Burger King teams who helped raise funds, as detailed by El Paso ISD.
The Burger King Scholars program, founded in memory of Burger King co-founder James W. McLamore, has significantly impacted the lives of many young people, aiming to support students who balance academic achievement with active community engagement. In El Paso, the program’s reach was made possible through the concerted efforts of local franchisees, who raised more than $20,000 to fund this year’s scholarship awards, emphasizing the role of community partnership in fostering educational growth.
