With the school year drawing to a close, El Paso ISD Superintendent Diana Sayavedra took a moment to express gratitude to staff and to highlight the district's achievements and upcoming initiatives. In a statement released yesterday, Sayavedra thanked staff across the board for their role in bolstering the educational experience, noting that their support, resilience, and unwavering belief in the power of education were keystones to finishing the year strong, as reported by El Paso ISD.
Graduation ceremonies commenced on Friday, June 6, with El Paso High School and San Jacinto Adult Learning Center signaling the start. Sayavedra extended congratulations to graduating students, asserting that their accomplishments are a testament to what can happen when we collectively invest in and guide youth towards their ambitions. The schedule for the ceremonies and guidelines for attendance can be found on the district’s website.
El Paso ISD also celebrated the achievements of students from the Project SEARCH program, a collaborative effort with The Hospitals of Providence, providing extensive job training for students with disabilities. Sayavedra underscored the initiative's offering of "inclusive pathways for all learners," with completion ceremonies taking place at Memorial and Sierra campuses, according to her statement.
Further supporting student welfare, Sayavedra mentioned the district’s summer meal program that will offer no-cost meals to children and young adults. Starting June 9, the program aims to ensure that good nutrition is key to student success, with information about locations and schedules accessible via the Food and Nutrition Services webpage. The initiative represents the district’s dedication to providing for students outside the regular academic calendar.
