In an early morning incident yesterday in Lincoln County, a 73-year-old woman was struck and killed by a vehicle. The North Carolina State Highway Patrol reported to the scene near NC 27 and Long Circle to find Maudie Rhinehart of Iron Station deceased following a collision with a 2013 Toyota Sienna. Rhinehart, who was in the road at the time of the accident, was said to be wearing dark clothing on a stretch of highway lacking street lights. The eastern-bound Toyota was driven by a 29-year-old woman, who remained unharmed during the event. WCNC cites that the authorities have ruled out speed and alcohol as contributing factors to the crash.
