
Last night, at around 8:30 p.m., a severe two-vehicle accident occurred in the South Side Flats district, prompting an emergency response from the Pittsburgh Bureau of EMS, Fire, and Police. The crash, involving an SUV and an electric vehicle, took place along the 3200 Block of East Carson Street, with the SUV flipping over and striking a light pole, as reported by the City of Pittsburgh Public Safety Blotter.
Rescue operations began swiftly after emergency personnel arrived at the scene, finding two people trapped within the overturned vehicle. Another had managed to get out before they got there. According to official statements, the rescue paramedics worked to stabilize the overturned SUV and cut open the roof to free the individuals trapped inside. The paramedics provided immediate medical care before transporting two patients to the hospital in stable condition; however, the third occupant was listed in critical condition.
The driver of the electric vehicle, an adult male, was reportedly unharmed and cooperated with authorities at the scene. His vehicle, the second in the collision, had no other passengers. Bystanders or other involved parties reported no additional injuries.
Pittsburgh Police's Collision Investigation Unit arrived later to process the scene and investigate the cause of the accident.
