Coconino County has officially announced Eric Peterson as its new deputy county manager. Peterson, bringing extensive leadership experience to the role, will succeed Kim Musselman, who's set to retire on August 1 after almost three decades of service to the county. The transition is scheduled to take place with Peterson starting his new position on July 1, according to a recent press release from the Coconino County.
Andy Bertelsen, Coconino County Manager, expressed his optimism in a statement, “I am excited to introduce our new deputy county manager, Eric Peterson.” He further stated that Peterson's background would "bring balance, breadth and depth to the leadership team." Searching to further strengthen the county apparatus, Bertelsen lauded Peterson's prior contributions and anticipated the boost he would bring to strategic planning and governance, as stated by the Coconino County.
Peterson is rejoining the Coconino team after gaining experience as the Assistant City Manager/Director of Finance and Administration for the City of Webster Groves, Missouri. His accomplishments there include improving the city’s fiscal state and involvement with the arts commission and business development commission. Prior to Webster Groves, Peterson served at different capacities for the State of Wisconsin and Milwaukee County, as reported by the Coconino County.
“I am looking forward to coming back to Coconino County to serve the wonderful people of our county and develop a more robust, responsive government," Peterson told the Coconino County. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to contribute to the ongoing work in the county, stating his commitment to the growth of the team's "capacity, innovation, resilience, and successes."
Peterson will be part of the executive team alongside Bertelsen and Deputy County Manager Erika Philpot. Together, they plan to advance the county's strategic priorities and provide support for daily operations across various sectors, as per the Coconino County.
