Euless, Texas, is set to join the global effort in combating a silent killer among our youth: drowning. The city will participate in the World's Largest Swimming Lesson™ on June 26, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Aquatic Park, located at 300 W. Midway Dr. This synchronized swimming lesson initiative intends to shed light on the importance of swim education as a lifesaving skill, particularly for children.
As the water shimmered with anticipation, kids of all ages gathered by the edge on the appointed morning, the gravity of the issue weighs heavily; drowning is declared one of the top five causes of death for individuals aged 1-14 by the World Health Organization, and for the age bracket of 1-4, the rates soar even higher. The City of Euless joins hands with communities globally, imparting lessons that potentially slash the risk of drowning by up to 88% among youngsters between the ages of 1-4, lessons that are not just strokes in water but lifelines thrown across the surface of a deeper menace.
The 30-minute lesson at Aquatic Park is available at no cost, but those wishing to partake in this lifesaving event must register, ensuring a spot in the coordinated chorus of splashes worldwide.
