A tragic shooting at the Horizon Inn and Suites in Norcross has left one man dead, and a woman injured amid calls from the victim's family for information leading to the arrest of the gunman. The incident, which happened late Tuesday night on June 17, is still under investigation by Gwinnett County Police.

According to 11Alive, around 11:47 p.m., officers responded to the scene at 6187 Dawson Boulevard where they discovered 29-year-old Andre Jones with a gunshot wound to his chest. Jones was taken to a nearby hospital, but ultimately succumbed to his injuries. A second victim, a woman, was found with a gunshot wound to her leg, however, police say she was not involved in the altercation that led to Jones's shooting.

In light of the tragedy, Jones's family is offering a $2,500 reward for information that can help bring the shooter to justice. "You see this on the news all the time, you hear about it all the time, but you never think it's going to be that close to home," Jones's mother, Gerrica Wilson, told FOX 5 Atlanta. Jones, who recently celebrated his 29th birthday, was a father of three young boys. The family had been looking forward to attending a family reunion in Alabama for the Fourth of July.

While the investigation is ongoing, with detectives following up on possible leads, the loved ones of Andre Jones are navigating a painful reality. "He’s a good boy, young man. Just turned 29. Ready to go to his family reunion. It's all we’d been talking about," Wilson said in a statement obtained by FOX 5 Atlanta. "Now I’ll be planning his funeral." In her grief, Wilson's plea to the public stands as a stark reminder of the human cost of gun violence, insisting, "This gun violence has to stop."

Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward. Tips can be submitted to Gwinnett County detectives at (770) 513-5300 or anonymously through Crime Stoppers at (404) 577-8477. The community's assistance could prove critical in solving this case and preventing future tragedies from occurring.
