Last night, the California Highway Patrol's Santa Rosa office reported a fatal accident involving a pedestrian and a BMW on Piner Road, east of Willowside Road. According to the CHP Santa Rosa's social media post, the collision occurred at 11:34 PM. The responding emergency services pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene.
The initial investigation by the CHP has led to the understanding that the BMW was driving eastward on Piner Road when, tragically, the pedestrian, crossing south, entered the vehicle's path and was struck. Emergency crews tried to save the pedestrian, but their efforts were in vain. The driver of the BMW, as well as the passenger, fortunately, did not sustain injuries, and impairment on the part of the driver is not currently suspected.
