A tragic incident unfolded in Fayette County last night when a man succumbed to injuries after his air compressor violently exploded. WTAE reported that the explosion occurred inside a garage at a home on Pleasant View Road in Menallen Township, with the call coming into officials around 9:45 p.m.
Upon arrival, state troopers discovered 69-year-old William Kim Jesko with severe injuries inflicted by the explosion. CBS News Pittsburgh reported that the force of detonation was so intense that it blew out the backside of the garage. The exact reason that led to the air compressor’s malfunction remains unknown at this time.
First responders quickly transported Jesko to Uniontown City Hospital. Despite the efforts of the medical staff, Jesko's injuries proved fatal. His work within the confines of his detached garage, alongside a seemingly benign air compressor, culminated in a startling and deadly event, leaving more questions than answers in its wake.
