Every weekend, Historic Market Square (514 W. Commerce Street) will buzz with music, working artists, and food booths, according to the city's latest release. And starting June 6, La Villita's Arneson River Theatre opens its doors to Fiesta Noche del Rio, boasting vibrant cultural performances every Friday and Saturday evening through August 2. With tickets in hand, attendees can expect a spectacular display of local artist's prowess.
But the fun isn't only when the sun sets. Downtown San Antonio turns up the daytime allure, too, riding on the success of Thursday's Lunch Break on Houston Street, with a lineup of food trucks and live music fronting the critical darling Majestic Theatre (224 E. Houston Street) from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. And while navigating through hordes of both vendors and visitors, unique treasures await inside La Villita and Market Square's shops.
As if you needed more reason to ditch the car, San Antonians are encouraged to travel smart. With an onslaught of activity flooding the streets, VIA Metropolitan Transit kindly suggests throwing a dollar thirty at their Link ride-sharing service, blissfully escaping any vestige of parking purgatory within the downtown service area zone. Also, there's the good old fashioned footwork or cycling for those feeling a bit more athletic under the Texas sun.
Still, for the motorheads, the City's SAPark website offers a convenient parking map to duck into some spots without much fuss. Conveniently located, the St. Mary's Garage (205 E. Travis St.) and the City Tower Garage (60 N. Flores St.) generally have many parking spots just steps away from Houston Street and Travis Park. And if you're one of those people who feel lucky on Tuesdays, there's free parking to try your hand at from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. in City-owned facilities, not to mention the same deal goes for Sundays at the City Tower Garage.
