Early yesterday morning in Pittsburgh's West End, a woman was forcibly divested of her vehicle at gunpoint, a Honda Accord, by a group of teenagers wielding considerable firepower. The suspects, identified as Aaron Reddix, Jeremiah Venson, and Damien Lamont Hill, all 15 years old, alongside 16-year-old Angelo Saxton and 17-year-old Jaron Crew, led authorities on a high-speed pursuit exceeding 90 mph after the armed carjacking on Faust Street in Sheraden, according to a criminal complaint obtained by WTAE.
The chase concluded with the vehicle crashing into a barrier on the West End Bridge, as reported by police. Subsequently, two suspects attempted to conceal themselves on a footpath after vaulting the barrier, while the others fled; all were captured eventually. In a statement detailed by WPXI, the victim articulated her ordeal, acknowledging that she was "shaken up" but was "all right, relatively."
The arrested teens are charged with multiple offenses, including robbery of a motor vehicle and possession of a firearm by a minor. The enforcement officials, amidst their investigations, revealed that these juveniles are also suspected of being implicated in other carjackings, an array of robberies, and weapons-related offenses. All five are currently being held in the Allegheny County Jail without bond, and despite their young ages, they are being charged as adults.
