The City of Folsom is preparing for the upcoming fiscal year with a proposed budget that includes a structural shortfall. Last Tuesday, the Folsom City Manager presented the proposed Fiscal Year 2025-26 budget to the City Council. A public meeting is scheduled for June 24 to allow residents to provide input on the city’s finances, according to the City of Folsom.
The City of Folsom is facing a $3.5 million shortfall in its General Fund, which supports services such as police, fire, and park maintenance. For the upcoming year, General Fund revenues are expected to be about $119.9 million, while expenses are projected at $123.5 million. To address the gap, the City Manager has proposed using reserves on a one-time basis. The plan avoids adding new General Fund positions and keeps department budgets unchanged. About half of the General Fund is allocated to public safety services.
The City of Folsom is planning cost-saving measures starting in the fall due to financial challenges, which may include reducing services. The City Council is encouraging residents to attend a meeting on June 24 at City Hall to provide feedback. Budget documents are available on the City of Folsom’s website for more information.
