A violent encounter disrupted the peace in a Fond du Lac neighborhood Sunday afternoon, leaving a 38-year-old woman with severe injuries from an axe attack. As reported by WISN, the woman managed to call 911 from her home in the 300 block of E. Merrill Avenue around 2:38 p.m. despite her injuries, prompting an urgent response from local authorities.
The assailant had left the scene before police arrived, found the woman with life-threatening lacerations to her head, her extremities, and her back. Responding officers and Fire Rescue provided immediate medical attention before she was transported to SSM Health St. Agnes Hospital. Due to the severity of her wounds, she was airlifted to Theda Medical Center in Neenah for surgery, as The Fond du Lac Reporter detailed.
That evening, a 34-year-old male suspect was apprehended following a brief pursuit near Germantown. Details surrounding the arrest, obtained by TMJ4, indicated that he was found around 7 p.m. and taken into custody. He was subsequently sent to Froedtert Hospital for a medical evaluation.
