Authorities in Ventura County have announced the arrests of four individuals linked to a drug trafficking operation responsible for distributing large quantities of methamphetamine throughout the area. According to a news release issued by the Ventura County Sheriff's Office, the monthlong investigation led by the Ventura County Combined Agency Team (VCAT), alongside units such as the Ventura County Fentanyl and Overdose Crimes Unit (VCFOCUS) and the Ventura County Sheriff’s Narcotics Street Team (NST), to swiftly bring down key players in the drug dissemination network.

Detectives have identified Carlos Mendoza, Jonathon Ramos, and Hector Abram as co-conspirators from Los Angeles who coordinated the delivery and distribution of methamphetamine in Ventura County. They also arrested Oxnard resident Jose Mondragon, allegedly responsible for further distribution of the drugs to local traffickers and users. In a coordinated operation on May 27, Mendoza and Abram were detained in the City of Camarillo; searches of Mendoza’s vehicle and residence resulted in the seizure of approximately 55 pounds of methamphetamine, a rifle, ammunition, and other evidence of drug sales. The Ventura County District Attorney’s Office has filed a criminal complaint against the accused, with their court date set for June 11, 2025.

The following day, detectives detained Ramos and Mondragon in Oxnard. During these operations, approximately 5 pounds of methamphetamine and evidence, including three firearms and ammunition, were seized from Mondragon’s residence. The series of arrests comes as a significant blow to the illicit drug market in Ventura County and signifies a major success for local and federal law enforcement agencies, who have to continuously work together to tackle such large-scale criminal operations.

"VCAT adheres to a multijurisdictional collaborative approach to reduce the impact of illicit drugs in Ventura County," said Sergeant Odilon Malagon in the statement. Each of the suspects now faces multiple charges, including possession for sale of a controlled substance, transportation of a controlled substance, and conspiracy to commit a crime. Witnesses or individuals with information leading to further arrests in this case may reach out to Ventura County Crime Stoppers, with the possibility of earning up to $1,000 as a reward for helpful information.
