Tragedy struck in Frisco as a 7-year-old child was found unresponsive after a reported drowning in a local pond. The emergency was first received last Saturday, prompting a rapid response from both the Frisco Police and Fire departments. Despite the efforts made by emergency personnel, the child was pronounced deceased shortly after being transported to Children's Hospital in Plano, the City of Frisco announced.
The incident unfolded on Preston Road, where officers and divers conducted a meticulous search, additional resources joining from neighboring services, Texas DPS air support, Lewisville FD, and Allen PD K9. Around 9:19 p.m., the divers recovered the young child from the water; from there, the child was rushed to the hospital, and by 9:50 p.m., the heartbreaking update came through that they had not survived.
Currently, there are no suspicions of foul play surrounding the sad event, and no criminal charges will be pursued. "Based on the initial investigation, no foul play is suspected, and no criminal charges are being filed," the Frisco Police Department stated in a release. The identity of the child remains confidential, as authorities are respecting the family's need for privacy in this sorrow-laden time, and they have extended their "deepest condolences and prayers to the victim's family during this incredibly difficult time."
