The works, intended to bolster safety and ensure reliable gas service, will see the replacement of plastic gas mains nearing the end of their lifespan with contemporary plastic piping. This procedure involves boring underground beside the roads, which may result in some intersections receiving temporary backfill such as dirt or gravel until permanent restoration is possible. Despite the inconvenience, traffic disruptions are anticipated to be minimal, consisting mainly of parking restrictions, single sidewalk closures, and lane shifts. Yet, all traffic impacts will be communicated as they become clear.
For those curious about the construction specifics, CenterPoint Energy has committed to informing affected residents ahead of any service disruption. "CenterPoint Energy will send a postcard in the mail before the service crew comes on site," the utility company stated, and further elaborated that appointments will be made for relighting service and shifting meters from inside to outside when necessary.
