The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) has stepped in to unravel the events leading up to the tragic deaths of Zaria Khadejah Carr and her husband, Shamarcus Jameal Carr, in a case that has gripped the small community of Twin City, Georgia. GBI's involvement follows a request from local law enforcement agencies seeking assistance with the investigation, as detailed in a press release dated yesterday.

According to the GBI report, the series of events unfolded last Saturday when police were quickly dispatched to a domestic disturbance on the 100 block of 5th Avenue. It was there that officers discovered 27-year-old Zaria unconscious, to later be pronounced dead at the scene. In a rapid response, an alert was issued to locate her missing 2021 Dodge Challenger. Not long after, authorities in Wayne County, Georgia, were tipped to have found the vehicle and attempted to stop it.

The situation took a grave turn when Shamarcus, who had been inside the car, inflicted a fatal gunshot wound upon himself. He was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. While Zaria's death is under the jurisdiction of GBI, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office is handling the investigation of Shamarcus's death.

The GBI's Medical Examiner's Office is set to perform an autopsy on Zaria Carr, which will contribute to the active and open investigation. Authorities have encouraged those with any relevant information to reach out to GBI's Regional Investigative Office in Eastman or the Twin City Police Department, with options to submit tips anonymously online or through a mobile app. Final determination on the case will come upon its completion, wherein the GBI will hand over its file to the Middle Judicial Circuit District Attorney's Office for review.
