Ruth Blake, a Georgia resident, is seeking legal redress from Tini Martini Bar situated in the historic quarters of St. Augustine, claiming that she suffered substantial injury from a falling martini shaker during her visit in 2023, information according to various sources say. The incident, which took place at the venue known for its cocktails and quaint setting within the Casablanca Inn, raises questions over safety measures and accountability within such establishments.
Legal documents obtained by Action News Jax indicate that Blake is requesting $50,000 in damages, on the grounds that the bar did not safeguard its patrons against potential hazards, characterizing this as negligence, the complaint further encompasses allegations on the lack of proper training for the bar staff and a failure to warn guests of the potential risks, a scenario which left Ms. Blake injured and in distress.
"Negligence by the bar led to bodily injuries, pain and suffering, mental anguish, permanent injury and disfigurement and scarring," Blake asserted in court documents, as she detailed the impact of the occurrence on her physical well-being and mental state. Her claim not only targets the bar but also extends to include the Casablanca Inn on the Bay, where the bar is situated, and the owner Nancy Cloud, highlighting the systemic nature of her grievances, News4JAX has reported.
As the First Coast News has noted, Blake's lawsuit claims that she not only suffered immediate physical injury but also anticipates ongoing medical costs and financial losses, these types of legal actions often emphasize the long-term repercussions of such incidents which render simple accidents as gates to prolonged adversities, a court date has been set for November 4 to address the future course of this suit. In the interim, Tini Martini Bar has refrained from public comment given the ongoing civil proceedings.
