In the small town of Gibson County, Tennessee, a 64-year-old registered sex offender named Anthony Hogue has been sentenced to 20 years in prison after violating his probation. Hogue, convicted of rape, had initially received a plea agreement that included Sex Offender Supervision, registration, and Community Supervision for Life, but breached the conditions related to his mandated Sex Offender Treatment, as reported by the Office of the District Attorney General, 28th Judicial District.
The prosecution faced significant challenges in this case, primarily attributable to the health issues of the elderly victim, which severely restricted her ability to testify in person during the trial. Despite these obstacles, District Attorney Frederick H. Agee's office managed to secure a resolution aimed at closely monitoring the defendant. "Our Office works very hard to evaluate cases, especially those involving violent crimes, to obtain an optimal result weighing all the relevant factors because we hold our duty to protect the community utmost in our goals," Agee stated, per the Office of the District Attorney General, 28th Judicial District. However, the plea's conditions were not to successfully keep Hogue in compliance, leading to the revocation of his sentence.
Hogue's return to court resulted in the activation of his 20-year sentence, which will be served at the Tennessee Department of Correction. The original rape case dated back to an incident where the victim, then residing with Hogue and with whom he had a previously consensual relationship, reported that he continued to subject her to sexual contact without her consent.
