Clear out your closets, Kauai residents, because Goodwill Industries of Hawai‘i is at it again with their reuse collection event. According to a recent announcement, the event is set to take place this Friday at the Kaua‘i Resource Center (KRC), located at 3460 Ahukini Road in Līhu‘e, between the hours of 8 a.m. and 3 p.m.
Goodwill is encouraging community members to donate items such as clothing (in any condition), small furniture, toys, books, and shoes. Items not accepted include e-waste, chemicals, appliances, broken goods, and baby gear, except for clothing. Donors are advised to contact their local thrift stores in advance to confirm what items can be accepted.
To ensure public safety during the event, Goodwill is asking all participants to remain in their vehicles while items are being unloaded. The precaution is due to the use of heavy equipment on-site and is intended to minimize the risk of injury.
Thrift stores and businesses with a surplus of goods can phone 808-241-4838 to sort out a pick-up service. For residential pickups, Kauai’s inhabitants should get in touch with Habitat for Humanity Restore at 808-335-6105 or dial up RP’s Random Closet at 808-346-0020—bear in mind that the latter is a for-profit operation, though.
