In an effort to broaden the expertise overseeing seismic activity in Texas, Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Stefan Hussenoeder, Ph.D., to the TexNet Technical Advisory Committee. Hussenoeder's appointment is not for a fixed term but rather will remain effective at the discretion of the governor, lending his knowledge to the committee tasked with guiding the Bureau of Economic Geology on funding allocation and research collaboration, as reported by the Office of the Texas Governor.
Hussenoeder brings over two decades of experience from ExxonMobil and is based in Sugar Land. He has held the position of injection and seismicity advisor, focusing on the relationship between industry practices and geophysical study. Hussenoeder has served as chair of the Permitting Sub-Committee of the Texas Seismicity and Water Partnership and as workgroup chair for the New Mexico Oil and Gas Association, participating in regulatory and partnership roles related to seismic activity in the industry.
Hussenoeder’s academic credentials include a Bachelor of Science in Geophysics from Saint Louis University and a Doctor of Philosophy in Oceanography (Marine Geophysics) from the joint program between the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution.
The TexNet Technical Advisory Committee plays a key role in advising the Bureau of Economic Geology, overseeing the TexNet Seismic Monitoring Program and promoting collaborative research across Texas universities.
