Richmond Park Pool in Grand Rapids, originally scheduled to open on Friday, is delayed due to a broken water pump. The pool will remain closed until the pump is replaced and the water is tested. The new opening date is expected the week of June 23. David Marquardt, Parks and Recreation Director, said, "While we're disappointed that we have to delay the opening of Richmond Park pool, we're grateful to have caught the issue early and get a new pump ordered," as noted by FOX 17.
The city's pools at Briggs Park and Martin Luther King Jr. Park will open for the season on Friday. According to WOODTV, the pools will operate from noon to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, and from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Sundays.
Grand Rapids kids can get free pool passes if they sign up on Thursday or earlier. After that, passes cost $5. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult at the pool, as mentioned by WZZM 13.
