Tourism in Texas has seen a notable boost with the City of Grapevine achieving a new status that honors its efforts in the industry. According to the Governor's office's recent announcement, Grapevine has been designated as a Tourism Friendly Texas Certified Community by Travel Texas, a validation of their dedicated push to position tourism as a pivotal economic strategy.
Governor Greg Abbott extended his congratulations to Grapevine, pointing out the significance of tourism as an economic driver. In a statement obtained by the Governor's office, Abbott shared, "Travelers to and within Texas generate almost $200 billion in annual economic impact and support 1.3 million jobs across the state." He hailed the state's diverse attractions and encouraged other Texas communities to seek the certification to bolster local tourism, and jobs.
Travel Texas Director Tim Fennell highlighted Grapevine's offerings for a broad spectrum of visitors. He said, "With year-round events, lakefront recreation, and outstanding resorts, Grapevine offers something for every kind of traveler." He noted the city's efforts in providing memorable experiences and its dedication as key reasons behind it being named a Tourism Friendly Texas Certified Community, as per the Office of the Texas Governor.
Local leaders also expressed pride in Grapevine's new designation. Senator Tan Parker told the Governor's office, "Grapevine’s leadership and commitment to excellence in tourism continues to raise the bar across Texas." Representative Giovanni Capriglione echoed similar sentiments, acknowledging the hard work of Grapevine’s leaders, businesses, and residents in forging a welcoming community for tourists. Meanwhile, Grapevine Convention & Visitors Bureau Executive Director Paul W. McCallum emphasized that the recognition affirms the local lifestyle of embracing guests with world-class hospitality. Councilman Leon Leal also weighed in, adding, "This designation reflects the spirit of Grapevine," praising the residents and officials for making the city a beloved destination.
Joe Szymaszek, the General Manager of Grapevine Mills and the Grapevine CVB Board of Directors Chair, acknowledged the contribution of everyone in the community, from shopkeepers to city officials, in fostering unique and exceptional experiences for tourists. The Tourism Friendly Texas Certified Community program, as described on its website, extends various benefits to the participating entities. These include fortifying tourism-related partnerships, providing educational resources for local leaders, and offering support from Travel Texas and other state programs designed to uplift communities and the travel and tourism industry in Texas.
