Chaos erupted at a Hutto neighborhood party this weekend when gunshots were fired, causing panic among partygoers, as seen in a video captured by a home surveillance system, CBS Austin reports. The footage, taken from a 58-second clip, shows several individuals hastily fleeing down Phillips Street in the Hutto Parke subdivision, some looking back in evident alarm as shouting filled the air and as the first shot can be heard, a brief silence falls then a succession of additional gunshots follow, punctuating the night with violence and fear.
According to FOX 7 Austin, the incident, which took place just before 12:30 a.m., began with a noise complaint but rapidly escalated to reports of gunfire, leading to the dispatch of Hutto police officers to the address on Phillips Street; they found a juvenile with a gunshot wound to his arm and transported him to a local hospital, while they also found evidence of at least one vehicle and a residence that were struck by bullets, no further injuries have been reported.
The Hutto police arrested an 18-year-old non-resident of the area on charges of unlawfully carrying a weapon following the incident, though it remains unclear whether this individual is the same as the one caught on video firing the weapon. The investigation continues as the authorities are treating the shooting as an isolated event, assuring there is no ongoing threat to the public at this time.
