California's loss is Texas' gain as hair care giant John Paul Mitchell Systems sets sights on a new horizon. Known for their professional hair care products, John Paul Mitchell Systems has decided to move their corporate operations from the Golden State to Dallas County, Texas. A new global product distribution center is also on the cards for Wilmer, a move that Governor Greg Abbott confidently touted would bring good-paying jobs and significant capital investment to the area, as reported by the Office of the Texas Governor.
The governor's office stated that this expansion would generate 80 new jobs and funnel more than $12 million into the local economy. To sweeten the pot, John Paul Mitchell Systems was awarded a $640,000 Texas Enterprise Fund grant, along with an $8,000 Veteran Created Job Bonus. Greg Abbott remarked, "Texas is the headquarters of headquarters," drawing attention to the state's robust market position and its "strongest pro-growth economic policies in America," according to a statement from the Office of the Texas Governor.
The Texas Enterprise Fund grant aims to attract businesses by promoting job creation and capital investment within the state. As John Paul Mitchell Systems co-founder John Paul DeJoria, who has called Austin home for the last 25 years, expressed his gratitude for the TEF grant, he highlighted the initiative's role in encouraging businesses to invest locally. "I'm honored that John Paul Mitchell Systems was selected as a grant recipient through the Texas Enterprise Fund," he told the Office of the Texas Governor.
Local politicians have also chimed in on the anticipated economic surge. Senator Royce West rejoiced over the jobs and economic boost heading to southern Dallas County, while Representative Aicha Davis expressed elation at securing the headquarters in House District 109. "Our district is bustling with opportunity," Davis shared, committed to filling the new high-paying positions with local talent, as per the Office of the Texas Governor. Even Mayor Sheila Petta and Economic Development Director Rona Stringfellow of Wilmer have welcomed the move, forecasting a strengthened business community and bustling local economy.
