The Department of Water (DOW) has issued a continuing plea to residents of Hanalei and ʻAnini Beach to conserve water as work on crucial infrastructure is underway. Residents are urged to minimize water usage by limiting the operation of automated water appliances, turning off ice machines, and irrigation systems, as well as avoiding non-essential water consumption activities like car washing.
As we're facing the consequences of a multi-decade old pump failure at the Maka Ridge Well, which has been offline since April 4, the emphasis on water conservation grows more pertinent. The DOW has begun repairs and replacement of the equipment, easing some concerns for the foreseeable future, but the necessity for community cooperation in conserving water resources remains critical.
According to an official statement from the Department of Water, "DOW appreciates customers for their ongoing conservation efforts and cooperation." This community-centric approach highlights the importance of individual actions contributing to the collective good, especially in times of infrastructure challenges.
Residents can stay informed on service outages and updates by visiting the DOW's service outage page. For further details or inquiries customers are encouraged to reach out via phone at 808-245-5455, or email [email protected], the DOW remains accessible to address the community's concerns and offer support during this period of recuperation.
