Residents of Hardeman County woke up to a changed scene, with damaged roads and fallen trees after a powerful storm. In the wake of a violent early morning storm system, local infrastructure took a considerable hit, leading to various road damages and mandatory closures. The Hardeman County Sheriff's Office took to social media to alert the citizens of the latest conditions.
According to a Facebook post from the Sheriff's Office, the damage is extensive, with crucial roadways becoming impassable. “Somerville Road is closed from Middleburg Road to 1290 Somerville Road, the road is completely washed away,” the post detailed, signifying a substantial loss of crucial transportation arteries. Similarly, Pea Vine Rd. faced a similar fate, closed between Reeves Rd. and Bass Rd. after being "completely washed away."
While some routes face outright destruction, others are partially blocked due to debris. Clifft Rd. near Sugarhill Loop is currently restricted to a single lane, courtesy of a toppled tree. A similar incident occurred near 1620 Mt. Comfort Dr., where a fallen tree obstructs the entire roadway.
The Sheriff's Office has not provided an estimated time for reopening and repairs; however, residents are advised to avoid these areas and seek alternative routes for their travel. The prolonged effects of such disruptions, the ancillary challenges presented to emergency services, and the recovery process are as of yet, undetermined.
