The Healey-Driscoll Administration has announced a $20.6 million investment through the Workforce Training Fund Program (WTFP) to support the training of 18,169 workers across Massachusetts. The program is expected to help create more than 1,200 new jobs over the next few years. Administered by Commonwealth Corporation, the funding is aimed at improving workforce skills and supporting business needs across the state.

According to Mass.gov, the FY 2025 grants will benefit 19 industries, with $6.5 million directed to manufacturing and nearly $3.5 million to professional, scientific, and technical services. The training includes areas such as technology, project management, and language skills.

The funding includes $7.2 million in competitively awarded General Program grants to 101 employers for training more than 5,200 workers over two years. In addition, over $13.4 million in Express Program grants have been distributed to more than 1,400 small businesses, covering more than 12,000 training slots between August 2024 and May this year.

According to Commonwealth Corporation, these grants are designed to help businesses improve workforce capabilities. The WTFP offers two grant options: the General Program for long-term training projects and the Express Program for small businesses requiring quicker support.
