The Healey-Driscoll administration is allocating over $40 million to support eight housing developments across Massachusetts, which will create 217 affordable rental units for seniors, veterans, and formerly homeless individuals.

According to an announcement on Mass.gov, these developments will include access to health care and mental health services. Secretary of Housing and Livable Communities Ed Augustus stated that supportive housing includes both permanent homes and necessary on-site services. One of the funded projects, Roadway Apartments II in Brockton, is being developed by Father Bill’s & MainSpring.

John Yazwinski, President & CEO of Father Bill’s & MainSpring, said the funding will help continue the development of permanent supportive housing properties. Brockton Mayor Robert Sullivan also noted the impact of the project on local development.

So far this year, the administration has invested $158 million in housing, supporting the creation of more than 1,100 affordable units. An additional $18 million has been awarded to produce 288 market-rate units in Gateway Cities. The state’s Momentum Fund, established under the Affordable Homes Act, has also made its first investments in two mixed-income developments.
