A fire on Sunday afternoon in Columbia Township near Grand Junction destroyed a home and spread to nearby outbuildings and a field. South Haven Area Emergency Services reported the fire started around 4:45 p.m. on Baseline Road near 51 ½ Street. Fire crews arrived to find the home fully on fire, according to WOODTV.
Deputies helped a resident in a wheelchair get to safety during a fire. First responders treated the person at the scene. Several fire departments worked together to fight the fire, including Columbia Township, Bangor Community, Lee Township, Bloomingdale, Gobles, Lawrence, and Allegan (Trowbridge), as reported by WZZM 13.
A fire near the Allegan–Van Buren county line involved emergency teams from both counties. Firefighters and deputies evacuated a homeowner in a wheelchair, as mentioned by MLive. The property was destroyed, but no deaths or serious injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
