A 9-year-old girl was shot in a residence in Honolulu last Friday. The Honolulu Police Department stated in a social media post that detectives from the Criminal Investigation Division learned a 20-year-old male suspect discharged a firearm, hitting the girl.
A girl was taken to the hospital by a private vehicle and is reported to be in good condition. After the incident, she was placed in protective custody. The suspect was later arrested. "Today, June 15, shortly after 2 AM, District 8 Patrol officers located and arrested the suspect for Assault in the Second Degree," as reported the Honolulu Police Department.
According to the Honolulu Police Department on their Facebook page, charges are expected as the Department of the Prosecuting Attorney reviews a shooting case that is still under investigation. Police have not released details about what led to the incident or the identities of those involved, possibly due to juvenile privacy concerns.
