In a recent incident that's caught the attention of Honolulu residents, two police officers were seriously assaulted while responding to a report of an erratic individual. The Honolulu Police Department detailed the event in a post on their official social media account, noting that the situation unfolded on the evening of June 5 near the intersection of Piikoi St. and S. King St.
The suspect, a 25-year-old male, reportedly brandished a knife and, in the course of attempting to quickly slip away from law enforcement, assaulted the two officers present. As per the police Honolulu Police Department's statement, he was subsequently arrested on two counts of Assault Against a Law Enforcement Officer in the First Degree.
Both of the injured officers were promptly taken to a local hospital to receive medical treatment. The nature of their injuries was not disclosed in the initial report, but it is clear that their conditions were concerning enough to warrant immediate hospitalization.
