The Honolulu Police Department is investigating a shooting that happened on Monday evening in Waikiki. An initial Honolulu Police Department social media post stated that shots were fired around 8 PM. The suspect was described as a man in his 30s wearing all black, and the suspect vehicle was a gray Nissan Sentra.
The Honolulu Police Department released an updated report that a 32-year-old man was driving a rental car when he came across people in a Nissan Sentra. He heard a gunshot and later found a bullet hole in his car. The case is being investigated as Attempted Murder in the Second Degree and remains open.
According to the Honolulu Police Department on their Facebook page, a 22‑year‑old man was arrested around 10:30 p.m. in the Kapahulu area for suspected Attempted Murder in the Second Degree. He is currently in custody and charges are pending. Police have not released more details about the shooting or what led up to it.
