The tragic death of four-month-old Brookelyn Fancher has led to the arrest and charging of her parents, Jeremy Fancher and Destiny Campos, for her murder. Additionally, Marilyn Jennifer Mork, Fancher’s current girlfriend, faces charges for hindering apprehension, according to reports by KPRC 2 and ABC13.
Brookelyn's lifeless body was found in May 2024, stuffed inside a dresser drawer in a Days Inn motel room on Houston’s west side, raising immediate suspicion about her parents’ involvement. Over a year ago, both KPRC 2 and ABC13 confirmed through independent reports that the drawer—normally used for storing clothes—had become a crib of death. The deliberate placement of towels around its edges ultimately suffocated the infant as she struggled to breathe. The medical examiner later confirmed the cause of death as suffocation.
In the wake of this revelation, Fancher described an entirely different scenario to KPRC 2, where he returned to the motel room after picking up food to find his daughter unresponsive and attempted to perform CPR. Meanwhile, Campos told Corley Peel from KPRC 2 she had thought Fancher took Brookelyn with him to the store, yet later exclaimed, "I'm sorry, Mom," to her mother in a manner lacking genuine sorrow.
Lisa Farrell, Brookelyn's grandmother, expressed her torment to ABC13, stating that both Fancher and Campos "should spend the entirety of what her lifespan would be in prison," mourning the milestones Brookelyn will never experience due to her premature death. Her sentiment was underscored by the cold absence of real tears from her daughter's eyes—it just didn’t sit right with her. The lack of remorse shown by her daughter, Campos—who didn’t cry or express any authentic grief for the lost life of her grandchild—only deepened the agony of a family torn apart by a heinous act.
Heartbreakingly, ABC13 has revealed that Campos is pregnant again with another child from a different man, whereas the firstborn child of Campos and Fancher, a three-year-old boy, has been placed with his great-grandmother, sparing him the continued turmoil wracking his biological parents.
Fancher now remains in Tom Green County Jail with an $850,000 bond, awaiting transfer to Harris County, as reported by KPRC 2; Campos is held on a $300,000 bond, as stated in the coverage from ABC13.
