A 14-year-old boy was arrested and charged with burglary after deputies from Constable Mark Herman's Office responded to a reported break-in last Wednesday, in the 14000 block of Wind Free Drive. According to a Facebook post by Precinct 4, the juvenile was caught in the act of attempting to steal a motorized dirt bike after the homeowner, alerted by a ring doorbell camera, held the suspect at gunpoint until law enforcement arrived.
The homeowner's quick response to the situation was instrumental in the apprehension of the juvenile, holding him down with a gun detected through home surveillance technology. "The juvenile was arrested and booked into the Harris County Juvenile Detention Center, charged with Burglary of a Habitation," Constable Mark Herman stated in the aforementioned Facebook post.
It was revealed during the investigation that the juvenile had used a face mask to conceal his identity while committing the burglary. The constable's office urges the community to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activity. They also recommend that residents download their mobile app "C4 NOW" for live updates on local crime, safety tips, and traffic conditions.
Arriving on the scene, deputies took the juvenile into custody, evidencing the homeowner's reliance on home security systems in recent years, which has gone up.
