Authorities in Houston have apprehended 48-year-old Michael Ellis in connection with a deadly shooting on Fairway Drive. The incident, which took place late Tuesday night, resulted in the death of a 46-year-old woman, whose identity is being withheld until her family is notified, and the wounding of a man, as reported by the City of Houston News.
Ellis now faces murder charges and was booked into the Harris County Jail, with information provided by HPD Homicide Division Detectives J. Diaz and G. Zavala detailing the chaotic scene. After responding to reports of a shooting, officers found a man with a gunshot wound who then directed them to the apartment complex where the gunfire took place. The investigation then took a turn after a report of a suspicious person toting a weapon was made at the same location, which matched the wounded man's description of the shooter.
The violent exchange seemingly originated from a domestic dispute within the apartment complex where Ellis and the deceased woman resided. HPD SWAT members forced entry into the apartment, where they found the woman deceased.
Ellis, who had fled the scene, was located and arrested around 3 a.m., with his apprehension followed by charges laid out by the Harris County District Attorney’s Office; the HPD plea for anyone with further information to come forth, encourages contacting the Homicide Division directly at 713-308-3600 or through Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
