A grave motorcycle accident claimed a life on Eastex Freeway this past Saturday evening, as reported by the Houston Police Department. The incident, which unfolded around 8 p.m. near the 1100 block of the North U.S. Highway 59, resulted in the death of 42-year-old Justin McCarthy. Despite the efforts of the responding paramedics from the Houston Fire Department, McCarthy was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Details of the accident, in a statement made by the City of Houston, indicate that McCarthy was traveling southbound when he failed to maintain a single lane and collided with the retaining barricade. The impact was such that it violently ejected McCarthy from his Indian Roadmaster motorcycle, causing him to fall over the barricade and into a wooded area below the overpass. Meanwhile, the motorcycle remained on the freeway.
The HPD Vehicular Crimes Division's Sergeant R. Dallas and Officer T. Johnson are actively investigating the circumstances leading up to this tragic event. As part of their procedure, they will thoroughly examine all potential factors that may have contributed to this fatal outcome.
