
A suspect has been taken into custody and faces charges in connection to the death of a woman at a Houston apartment building in an incident that authorities say culminated in a stabbing on South Braeswood Boulevard. The suspect, identified as 31-year-old Jose Ignacio Diaz Pina, was arrested and charged with murder in the 497th State District Court, according to the City of Houston News.
Responding to reports of a stabbing yesterday evening around 8:35 p.m., Houston Police Department officers discovered a woman with multiple stab wounds in a bedroom of the said complex. Paramedics arrived at the scene and pronounced the woman dead. The suspect, Jose Diaz Pina, returned to the scene later and surrendered himself to the police who, after consultation with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, proceeded with the charges and booking into Harris County Jail. The identity of the victim, a 40-year-old woman, remains undisclosed as officials await the process of notifying her family members, a task that falls under the jurisdiction of the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
