The incident, which led to the death of a 50-year-old woman, took place at a business located at 6968 Wilcrest Drive shortly after midnight, as reported by the City of Houston News.
Details from the Houston Police Department suggest that the confrontation started outside when Cornejo allegedly argued with the woman, identified as his girlfriend, escalating rapidly as he chased her into the establishment and inflicted multiple stab wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene by responding paramedics, the suffering and loss confined not to just a building but to an entire community grappling with this sudden violence. Hernandez Cornejo later surrendered to the authorities and confessed to his involvement in the tragic event. He is currently detained in the Harris County Jail. HPD Homicide Division Sergeant M. Cass and Detective J. Brown have been appointed to the ongoing investigation.
