A woman's life was cut tragically short following a collision this past Sunday at the intersection of 3600 Cork Drive. Houston police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatal incident that took place at approximately 8:05 p.m.
The investigation, which remains ongoing, seeks to determine the specifics of the crash involving a gray Jeep Wrangler and a blue Nissan Sentra. According to the City of Houston's official news release, the Nissan was headed southbound on Claygate Drive when it failed to yield at the stop sign, leading to the Jeep impacting the vehicle. The 71-year-old female passenger of the Nissan was transported to Ben Taub Hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries. Her identity has yet to be released, pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
Other occupants of the Nissan were also taken to an area hospital, reportedly in stable condition. On the scene, the Jeep's driver cooperated with law enforcement and showed no signs of intoxication. The driver was questioned and subsequently released, as noted by HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant Y. Ramirez and Officer R. Young in the statement. Investigations by the HPD are ongoing.
