Over a year later, the search continues for information related to the fatal shooting of 22-year-old Jahlill Zachary, whose life was cut short in a Houston apartment complex. On December 30, 2023, Zachary was reportedly found with a gunshot wound at 832 West Greens Road after seeking help from residents around 8:45 p.m. Despite immediate assistance and transportation to an area hospital, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased. According to investigators, the shooting likely did not take place at the address where Zachary was found.
The Houston Police Department (HPD) has renewed their appeal to the public, urging anyone with knowledge about two persons of interest to come forward. The two individuals, described only as black males in the statement made by the Houston police, were seen with the victim a few hours before the fatal incident. It's important to note that these individuals are not currently considered suspects, but may have valuable information that could assist the case.
In a Houston Police Department press release, HPD Homicide Division Sergeant R. Montalvo and Detective D. Higgs reported, "The man had knocked on residents’ doors requesting assistance." The attached photos of the people of interest are key evidence that police hope will help someone remember something and lead to a break in the case.
The appeal for public aid has not diminished with time. Anyone holding information regarding the two persons of interest or with any leads pertinent to Jahlill Zachary's tragic death is strongly encouraged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or to provide an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
