
A woman has died following a serious car crash in Houston, according to police. The Houston Police Department is investigating the incident, which occurred around 2:10 p.m. on Thursday at 9200 Fondren Road. The crash involved a white Honda Accord and a white Ford F-250, officials reported.
Reem Musallam, 37, was identified as the deceased victim who was a passenger in the Honda. According to officials from the HPD Vehicular Crimes Division, the cars were to be traveling at a high rate of speed. The collision resulted in both vehicles veering off the road and striking several objects, including street signs, poles, and trees, before ultimately coming to a halt, according to the City of Houston.
Both drivers survived the initial impact and were transported to a local hospital in stable condition. Musallam, however, was taken to Memorial Hermann–Texas Medical Center in critical condition and was later pronounced deceased. Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The ongoing investigation around the crash is actively seeking to understand the cause and contributing factors that led up to it. "The investigation is continuing," as stated on the City of Houston's news release.
