Border control scored a big win at Anzalduas International Bridge, seizing a massive haul of $815K in undeclared U.S. currency. On Monday, a 44-year-old male U.S. citizen, who was riding in a 2025 Honda Odyssey was flagged for a routine check which unveiled the hidden fortune within his vehicle, according to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers discovered the hidden cash during a routine check of outgoing traffic. Their careful inspection stopped what might have been a secret and possibly illegal plan. "Our CBP officers’ continued vigilance led to this major currency seizure," declared Port Director Carlos Rodriguez, "These outbound interceptions are key in disrupting criminal networks and limiting their access to illegal profits," in a statement obtained by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
Carrying over $10,000 isn't illegal, but not reporting it to Customs when entering or leaving the U.S. is a federal crime. In this case, the money and the Honda Odyssey were seized. Homeland Security has started a criminal investigation to look into the source of the undeclared cash, as reported by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
